Biotech club of biotechnology and genetic engineering department of Jahangirnagar University on Friday organised the fresh edition of ‘Biogen Cosmeceutical First National Biotechnology Olympiad’ on the university campus.
The club in association with the National Institute of Biotechnology and Farming Future Bangladesh organised the Olympiad aiming to create interest in biotechnology learning among common people.
The Olympiad was held under six separate sections, namely written test, popular talk, career talk, science talk, query session and prize distribution programme.
Over 800 students from school, college and universities participated in the written test under individual categories.
In the afternoon, Independence Day Award winning scientist and professor of Dhaka University Haseena Khan addressed a session on biotechnology at the Zahir Raihan auditorium of Jahangirnagar University.
JU vice-chancellor Nurul Alam, dean of biological sciences Nuhu Alam, chair of JU biotechnology and genetic engineering department Umme Salma Zohra also addressed the function.
