The event took inspiration from Taizhou’s distinctive frameless lanterns and featured a lantern-lighting ceremony inspired by the city’s natural landscapes, cultural experiences showcasing its traditional arts and crafts, and displays of local specialties. These activities offered international guests a glimpse into Taizhou’s rich cultural heritage and the vitality of its pharmaceutical industry, which has earned the city recognition as the "Pharmaceutical Capital of China." The event also helped raise the international profile of both Taizhou and Hisun Pharmaceutical.

Founded in 1956 in Taizhou, Hisun Pharmaceutical was a pioneer in bringing Chinese pharmaceuticals to international markets. In 1992, its tobramycin received U.S. FDA approval. As one of the earliest Chinese companies to export active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), Hisun began its commercial expansion in established markets, including the U.S. and Europe. Since then, the company has built its international business around high-quality specialty APIs. Several of its core products have obtained Certificates of Suitability to the Monographs of the European Pharmacopoeia (CEPs), and its manufacturing facilities have received EU Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification, supporting its long-standing ties with the European pharmaceutical industry.

In 2025, Hisun Pharmaceutical launched its Internationalization 2.0 Strategy, with a focus on deeper engagement in overseas markets, a stronger local presence and broader collaboration across the value chain. The company continues to strengthen strategic partnerships with leading European pharmaceutical companies and research institutions, expanding collaboration beyond API supply to encompass joint R&D, technology transfer, local manufacturing and cooperation in regulated markets. These efforts are building closer collaboration between the Chinese and European pharmaceutical industries.

Over the past 70 years, Hisun Pharmaceutical has grown into an integrated pharmaceutical and healthcare group with capabilities spanning R&D, manufacturing and sales. Its products are sold in more than 100 countries and regions worldwide, with international businesses in APIs, finished pharmaceutical products and animal health. The company continues to serve the global pharmaceutical industry through its commitment to quality and its manufacturing expertise in China.
