Stan has a new series on the horizon, starring former Downton Abbey actress Joanne Froggatt.
While you’ve been enjoying the trove of Disney (and Marvel) films available on Stan, the online streaming service has been cooking up more original content, with a new series called ‘The Commons’ in the works.

Damon Herriman who was in another Stan Original series, Perpetual Grace, and will play a role in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming flick, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
We’re light on details at the moment, but we do know The Commons will be a mystery drama set in the near future that revolves around biotechnology and the very hot topic of climate change. It it set to go for eight hours – perfect for binge watching if you fancy.
Sally Caplan, Screen Australia’s head of content, said the show will put “a spotlight on the challenges of climate change, ethical boundaries and the place of motherhood in saving the planet.”
Shelley Birse, author of the book turned tv series, Blue Water High and creator of the Aussie drama, The Code. It will be produced by Playmaker – the team behind House Husbands, Love Child and Bloom – and its sales will be handled by Sony Pictures Television.
Stan teamed up with Screen Australia and New South Wales’ arts funding body, Create NSW for the series.
The company’s Chief Content Officer Nick Forward said ‘The Commons’ “continues to demonstrate our ambition as the home of original Australian productions”.
The Commons is set to deliver more than 290 cast, crew and post production jobs, with production to begin in and around Sydney next week.
It is expected to hit your screen in 2020. Watch this space.
