Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal held a meeting with principal scientific advisor to the Government of India, Professor K Vijay Raghavan, department of biotechnology, experts from IIT, Delhi, representative of Denmark and officers of Municipal Corporation of Delhi to discuss possible solutions for cleaning of drains and remediating legacy waste of Delhi.

Officials informed LG that with the small pilot projects at Barapullah, Babarpur drains. Department of biotechnology has been able to collect over 500 tonnes of plastic waste in 3 months. These beginnings are very heartwarming, open wider opportunity to clear other drains of to realize dream of clean Yamuna. 

Replication of these solutions will definitely clear the drains and lead to transformation in community living around these drains, a release issued by L-G office stated.

Baijal lauded office of principal scientific advisor, IIT, Delhi and department of bio-technology for their sustained efforts and continued innovations to help clean Delhi.

LG also stated that it is also very encouraging to learn about huge response from global experts for legacy waste remediation at Ghazipur. Concerted efforts from all stakeholders will pave way for cleaner and greener Delhi, it said.
