290 participants from 18 nations at the late summer edition of the European Chemistry Partnering in Düsseldorf

  • High level or participation from Southern and Eastern Europe
  • Attendance record and more than 500 arranged networking meetings
  • 4th European Chemistry Partnering will take place on 27 February 2020 in Frankfurt
  •  Podcast of the panel discussion “Digitization Networking in Chemistry” available soon

On September 26, international representatives from startups, SMEs, large companies. clusters, industry parks and further services providers came together in the headquarter of industry and consumer goods manufacturer Henkel in Düsseldorf, Germany. 290 participants from 18 nations met in 500 partnering talks and one-to-ones. More than 181 companies presented their products and services in short presentations (pitches) and booths in the exhibition area.

For the first time, the keynote speech of the ECP Summer Summit was held by two speakers: Dr Paolo Bavaj, Head of Corporate Venturing at Henkel’s Adhesive Technologies business unit, and Miguel Galvez, President and co-founder of NBD Nanotechnologies, a start-up from Boston, U.S.A. provided insights into their co-operation. The interested audience learned how to develop co-operations from initial contact on events such as the ECP to investment and finally to successful business collaboration.

The different workshops, another innovation at the ECP Summer Summit, were well received. The professional audience learned about circular economy, bioplastics and about trans-European collaboration in bio economics. The workshops were organized by the ECP partners Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Produktion (CSCP), nova-Institut and der Cluster Industrielle Biotechnologie (CLIB). Additionally, an expert from the law firm TalyorWessing informed about tax issues for startups.

Once again, the 2nd European Chemistry Partnering confirmed the need for more interdisciplinary exchange as many participants used this opportunity. Dr Holger Bengs, initiator of the ECP invited everyone to the next big European Chemistry Partnering and by using early bird discounts for tickets. On February 27, 2020, more than 1,000 innovation managers from all over the world will join in Frankfurt for the 4th ECP.

Background
7 percent of all products contain at least one chemical process step: renewable raw materials, enzymes, industrial biotechnology, new processes, products from residual materials, digitization, etc. are changing the processes in chemical value creation: starting with purchasing logistics on to production and finally marketing and sales. Interdisciplinary exchange is gaining in importance. With the ECP, an international chemistry community is growing that wants to derive more innovation from what already exists.

European Chemistry Partnering: A brief overview
The main idea of the European Chemistry Partnering is the quick and focused exchange between creative and innovative decision makers from the chemical industry and its user industries. The six minutes long innovator presentations (pitches) and the pre-arranged appointments and one-to-ones are at the center of the day. All participants share the same aim: getting to know each other across national, discipline and industry boarders and setting joint impulses for creative projects. The European Chemistry Partnering was conceived and initiated by Dr Holger Bengs, Managing Director of BCNP Consultants GmbH. Organized as a platform for speed dating, the event differentiates from other fairs and congresses and takes place twice a year.
